Michael Martin collection, 1964.

Photographs of the William A. Stone House, 1104 W. Main Street, Kalamazoo, Michigan, 1964. Photographs were taken one year before demolition. Collection also includes photographs of the Martin residence in Gobles, Michigan, that has several of the salvaged windows from the Stone House. Completed in 1910, the William A. Stone House was designed by Chicago architect George W. Maher (1864-1926) a contemporary of Frank Lloyd Wright and considered one of the Prairie School architects. The house remained in the Stone family until the middle 1950s. It later became a fraternity house. The City of Kalamazoo removed it in 1965 for road construction.
